"Defensive Combat" (melee combat skill) [1]

You are fighting with a defensive approach. For the associated melee combat skill, permanently gain +1 parry with the drawback of getting -2 for any attack. Applying this perk is restricted to the use of melee weapon skills associated to the defensive combat perk. When using other melee weapon skills in the same turn, the parry bonus does not count.

Sample:

Dorian is a defensive character, fighting usually only for self defense, preferring to be in 2nd line if its getting dangerous. He has a sword skill of 14 and parry 10. His character decides to specialize in 'Defensive Combat: Sword, paying 1 CP. From now on, when attacking with swords Dorian has only an effective skill of 12 but his increased parry is 11 - so he can feel more secure...
