Item Enhancers

Do multiple Item Enhancers follow the same rule as do multiple Monster Enhancers, or does the player who owns the Item being Enhanced control the order? If I become a Gnome, can I change the name of an Item to suit my needs by rearranging the Enhancers? If I'm a Gnome Thief and I steal an Item, can I do likewise?

I have two questions regarding item enhancers:

1) Can an item enhancer be played on an item that is carried and used by a Hireling?

2) Does the bonus of an item enhancer counts when the item it's attached to is hit by a curse (i.e. a curse that says to lose the item that gives you the biggest bonus in battle)?
