How to have Wild magic (as in occasional spell will do something random)

I been playing baulder gate 2 witch a wild mage and like how it just sort of does weird things from time to time even if 9 out of ten it not good news for me. I was trying to find how to do that in gurps in thautomalogy but the closest thing I found was being a generator of wild magic. I kind of want the wild magic where when the chaos over takes the spell almost anything could happen, good bad or indifferent.



I thinking like a good rule would be have the dm roll 3 numbers on 3d6 in secret before a battle and if your magic roll falls on one of those numbers a wild effect will obscure rolled on either a table or just from some online wild surge generator.



Should that be an advantage because I could go in your favor, or a 0 point feature since it could go either way (with maybe a stigma disadvantage since wild mages probably have gotten bad reputations)
