Players as vehicle crews

Players as "crews" rather than individuals: How do you handle them?



For example, if you were running a 4 player game and the context was "We are tankers", would you prefer the one person controls a gestalt "character" representing an entire tank crew, or all the players manning different stations? Or some other way?



I've done neither, but I'd give both a fair shot. I put up a bit more here.



(Don't worry, it's a short one)



The downside to one player per tank is potential lack of characterization. One tank occupied by all the players potentially restricts their freedoms too much.
