My old laptop has seen better days. The battery is dying. And it somehow acquired a "rootkit" virus. Rather than spending $200 repairing it (yeah, I could probably get it fixed cheaper if I shopped around...), and end up with an old laptop, I thought I'd ask if anyone had any recommendations for getting a new, lower-end laptop/tablet?
I intend to surf the web with it.
I intend to read my RPG PDFs with it (wireless over the intranet, from the huge hard drive on my desktop).
I would like to play some games on it (at the very least, the older games I've bought through Steam and Good Old Games; if I can play Civ IV, Civ V, and Beyond Earth on it, as well, that'd be golden--but nothing up to the level of World of Warcraft). I don't think I can do that with a Droid tablet, right?
Any suggestions in the $250-300 range, or is that just wishful thinking?
