World medical systems

So I read the Daily Illuminator today. I'm not sure if this is the right place to discuss this, so if a moderator wants to move this to another thread that's fine.

The only thing I didn't like about today's article was the insistence that we need better medicine now, and that the American capitalist medical system is the cause of the problem.

So first of all I have lived overseas in a country that, like Britain, has a socialist medical system. Many people in Germany, like people in Britain and Canada and France, hate their socialist medical system. Because it simply doesn't work that well. Many people in those socialist nations have died while on waiting lists for life saving techniques and surgeries where, in America, they get immediately rushed into an operating room.

There is a reason that rich people in those countries all come to America whenever they want medical care. There's a reason that King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia lived most of the last 5 years of his life in hospitals in New York City instead of in his own country.

Also, 90%+ of all medical advancements in the last century have been in America. 90%+ of all new drugs are developed in America. There's not one single country in the world that has better and more advanced medical care than the United States. Not one country does medical care better than we do. Not one country in the world spends more money researching and developing life saving medicines and devices than America. And not one country in the world advances medicine or medical technology faster than we do.

I do understand your anger that Sir Terry Pratchett couldn't be saved, Mr. Jackson. But I think that mentioning your personal dislike of our medical system into your article, honoring Sir Terry Pratchett and his achievements, was not appropriate. Not the least of which because it was factually inaccurate.
