THS computer complexity ratings

What am I missing here:



Per GURPS VEHICLES:



Macroframe Complexity = TL-2

Mainframe Complexity = TL-3

Microframe Complexity = TL-4

Minicomputer Complexity = TL-5

Small computer Complexity = TL-6



Per Ultratech 2:



Tiny computer: Complexity = TL-7



That having been said, the following computers in Transhuman Space page 141 lists the computers as below. So, reverse engineering the formulas above, I'd get the following tech levels for the following computers:







Macroframe complexity 9: Calculated TL as 11

Mainframe complexity 8: Calculated TL as 11

Microframe complexity 7: Calculated TL as 11

Small complexity 6: Calculated TL as 12

Tiny complexity 5: Calculated TL as 12



The game is supposed to be nominally TL 9. Optional rule for Computer Complexity jumps 2 per tech level after the computer is first Introduced (per Ultratech 2).



Since the Tiny Computer is introduced at TL 8, it should be 1 at TL 8, and at best, complexity 3 at TL 9. Instead, it is listed as Complexity 5.



There doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason as to why the computers are given the complexity ratings they are in Transhuman Space. It doesn't follow standard rules, accelerated tech for computers, or the +2 complexity ratings per tech level above initial introduction rule.
