Who won our game of Munchkin Apocalypse?

mardi 3 mars 2015

We played a 3 player game last night. All players are level 9, 6 seals are open and Player C has the highest gear score.

Player A kicks the door to a level 1 monster, +6 due to seals, but easily beats it. Player B plays a Disaster on Player A to make him lose a level. Player A then plays a GUAL card on himself and states that he is still in winning position and waits for someone to do something.

As he does that, maybe 3 or 4 seconds after playing the GUAL card, he takes the Disaster and GUAL card from in front of him, where they were laid, and puts them on the discards. When he does this, Player C plays Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fire, stating he wants to cancel the Lose a Level Disaster, which would also open the 7th seal and win the game for him.

Here's where we run into confusion. Players A and B both feel that the play was late, the disaster had been played and resolved. Player C says it was the last actions taken, that the GUAL card doesn't resolve the disaster and that he didn't really have time to play his card before the disaster was resolved. There's some validity to this, as the Disaster and GUAL were playing in quick succession, but A and B felt the time after the GUAL card was sufficient and that the disaster was only noticed as it was moved, not played, which of course may not matter.

Thoughts, opinions and rulings? We are withholding declaring a winner as we want to be fair. Is there a time limit on certain plays? How would you judge curses/disasters on something like this that's, for all intents and purposes, instantaneous, as opposed to something that required more time and actions (like everyone discarding something)?
