Adventure time Evil little piglets / flame king instant kill

I have a question regarding two situations that actually involve the same principle.

In the first situation I played the level 1 monster evil little piglets from my hand with the one shot that says 'INSTANTLY kills evil little piglets’. So I claimed my victory because they die instantly and cannot be helped anymore.

The second round I was level 8 when I drew the Flame King. I then proceeded with discarding my flame resistant suit. "Automatically killing any monster immune to fire/flame attacks". And again claimed my victory.

Both situations are with different cards, but face the same principle. Should the other players be allowed to intervene? If so, how much time do they have for this?

Off course one shot items wouldn't do any good anyway, but a "Mama", "Mate", or "Wandering monster" card could be applied, because then the second monster would continue the fight. However, the term "instantly" and 'automatically" imply, from my point of view, and instant death, hence the end of the combat. What do you think of this?
