I'm making a knight for one of my players in an upcoming DF game. I've come into a bit of a snag. He's supposed to be an excellent soldier, so he has proficiency with several weapon skills (axe/mace, broadsword, and polearm) and I'd like him to be a weapon master with the weapons he's familiar with (Axes, broadswords, and halberds.)
Here is my issue, since he's the only dedicated warrior type in a group of six (four of the players are new to RPGs) if I gave him Weapon Master (all muscle powered weapons [45] I feel his points are stretching too thin. Would it be allowable, fair, balanced, etc. to give him Weapon Master (Axe) and (Halberd) as alternative abilities to his Weapon Master (broadsword & Shield) as alternative abilities for 4 points a piece?
The other idea I had would be to create a modified 30 point version like the "knightly weapons" choice and add halberd.
I know if he gets the 45 points version, he'll be a badass with all weapons he comes across, but my worry is his viability will take a hit.
I'm appreciate of any and all answers.
