War Galley



This is a large version of an Italian Renaissance war galley, with a quintet of forward guns situated above its ramming prow. Quarters are provided for the ship's officers as well as space for the ship's surgeon to work; most of the crew and soldiers, however, tend to sleep in their seats while the ship is under sail. The cargo hold is normally filled with provisions for the crew and soldiers.



The ship has accommodations for 244 people (240 seats and cabin space for four officers - commonly the captain, pilot, surgeon, and the marine commander); several of the crew sleep on the deck or in the cargo hold rather than in their seats.

Please note that I am using Spaceships 1 , Spaceships 7, a single option (No Life Support) from Pyramid #3/34 's "Alternate Spaceships", and several options from Pyramid #3/64 's "Sailing the Open Skies". I am not going for total historical accuracy.



Nevertheless, feel free to pick apart. One thing that I already see is that the armor is incredibly weak against its own guns, though the ship's large HP might help mitigate some of the effects. I should probably pull out Low-Tech and use their guns rather than the ones from Spaceships . Spaceships 7 states that black powder guns suffer in performance, but few details are given.
