Useful Mechanics of Third Edition

Fourth edition has been around a while and it's handled most the area third edition covered (with some notable exceptions like the still in progress Vehicle Design.) so the classic titles are mostly there for matters of flavour or interest in the history of GURPS. However there are occasionally bits in third edition books that are still interesting mechanically. It would be useful to make a list of these things especially for people who weren't around in third edition.



I'll start with Concentrated Defense from Martial Arts. Focused Defense is better at it's thing despite a few bugs however there hasn't been an official treatment of the benefits of obviously focusing your defense on a small area (which can be an important option for characters with, for example, supernatural weak points). If you're looking at designing something like that Concentrated Defense is worth a glance.
