A character I'm contemplating for a many-worlds campaign is a space navy doctor from a TL10-11 society. As I understand it, specialists like this aren't usually in the chain of command, so does he have Rank, or just courtesy rank?
Any guesses as to what rank the chief medical officer of, say, a heavy cruiser (several hundred crew) might have?
Also, I imagine a heavy discount would be appropriate given that he'll be going far away from anyone who might recognize said rank?
