Player 1 is fighting Monster A and is winning
Player 2 plays a Wandering Monster to add Monster B and 1 is now losing
1 uses Rock of Repentance to convert B to her side and is now winning
2 uses Insanely Variable Bonus Plot Device and now 1 is losing
1 played Charmed Circle, expecting it to repel the Insanely Variable Bonus Plot Device without also repelling Rock of Repentance.
2 argues that Charmed circle specifies that it repels items played "against" that player. Insanely Variable Bonus Plot Device, however, targets the combat itself, not the player.
Who's right?
EDIT: Nevermind. 2 realized from the font difference that "Plot Device" is the card name and "Insanely Variable Bonus" is the modifier, which means it is a straight-up modifier adding a bonus to the monster side, so Charmed Circle would, in fact, repel it. I'd delete my post, but this forum doesn't seem to have that feature.
