I realized this hasn't been mentioned yet.

This is a universe-based RPG about mercenary companies. The inspiring material is schlock mercenary, one of the older (and longer) webcomics in existence. I just barely looked at the game in depth, and found the following features:

It does large-scale combat in a simple, non-wargame manner, and baked in from the start.

Expected high character turnover. You are expected to die fairly often. And to get a new character at the moment of death, in the form of a battlefield promotion. Death is sad, but its not discouraged.

On that note, an emphasis on speed. Character generation is supposed to be fast enough to deal with the turnover. rolls are abstracted as high as possible to still be fun. They're hoping for a simple, low-math system.

An interesting way to replace characters: when you spend a <destiny, edge, and so forth> point to deflect a shot, a grunt took the hit for you. Name your grunt, and give him +20% experience -- if he survives the hit (50%). This can be repeated with the same grunt. Yes, when you eventually die, you can play this guy who's been taking one for the team all this while.

It will handle Cybernetics, Bio-boosts, and so forth as a baked-in consideration. They actually threw out a lot of the base stats because the tech renders them negligible.

Normally, I'm a gurps guy. But this is in a universe I love, and the mechanics sound pretty fun. I thought the rest of you deserved to know. The kickstarter has only 9 days left, and is overfunded by about 270%, but if you want in, here it is. Or if you just want to discuss mechanics.
