Worldbuilding with whole-brain emulations

I'm not sure what I'm doing, and could use some advice.

Over at http://ift.tt/1QuJcuq , I've been writing a fictional FAQ, from the perspective of an AI based on a detailed scan of a human's brain, who's decided to open-source himself. I've done much of my worldbuilding by taking some historical trends on computer development, and extrapolating them straightforwardly, and just running with the results. I've identified some of the more obvious consequences that lead to potential conflict - eg, the living wage for an "em" is as little as $2 per hour - but I'm not quite sure where to go from there. Figure out where the first food riots would be? Work out what the richer ems' secretive plans are? Dive in on a particular individual and try to figure out what makes their life interesting? Skip the further detailed worldbuilding stuff and just wing it from this point on?

Any suggestions?
