Hello!
I am attempting a play-through of the classic Solo adventure "Convoy". Some things are puzzling me so I thought I'd bring them up. Of course some questions are relating to encounters but if this occurs I will warn of spoilers. At this point I have taken the "right-hand" route along the Bluegrass Parkway, then SW along I-65 and I-40. The convoy escorts are using mostly stock vehicles chosen from the AADA Vehicle Guide (Ram Tonto on point, Vanguard as Tail End Charlie and a Combatant 20 as a fire support vehicle). This is a RP choice to maintain the seeming 2033-34 date the adventure is set in.
Currently the convoy is travelling SW en route between Nashville and Jackson.
Starting off:
The adventure starts at 8pm, probably around sunset. Nighttime and darkness is even referenced in the text a few times. I would guess that in some sense every combat would be at a -3 penalty to both sides' fire but this seems rather pointless as it would just drag out combat by making it harder to hit. And what time would dawn occur? (My preference is just to ignore this aspect and pretend the mission takes place during daylight hours.)
It's not explicitly stated but I assume you can purchase all common ammunition and gear at the Truck Stops?
There are times listed for roadside repairs, salvage and reloading given at the beginning of Convoy. When you get to a truck stop the rules for such activities defaults to those in Truck Stop, which boil down to an hour for even trivial tasks like topping up ammunition magazines and changing tires (/12 hour for M3). While it seems reasonable that field maintenance is quick and rushed, it makes no sense that the same activity (say, reloading your guns) goes from 5 minutes per weapon to an hour once you reach safety!
SPOILER ALERT:
The convoy has just been "bounced" (ambushed) by 3 vehicles. If you've played Convoy you probably know the encounter. The map is at paragraph 304 and the Vehicle Record Sheets are on 70. There appears to be some formatting errors! A pickup with no turret and a station wagon with turret come in from the side, then a pickup truck with turret comes from behind. The VRS and specs for the 1st pickup seems to be missing, the text for the other pickup and the station wagon seem to be switched. Is there supposed to be another VRS and info text for the second (or first?) pickup? Or just say there's 2 of the same vehicle?
Tony
