Cyclic damage question.

One of my characters has an emanation attack that deals cyclic damage, it's 1d toxic cyclic 3 to be exact, and I was wondering if each instance of exposure stacks. Does the attack do 1d the first round, 2d the second, and 3d on subsequent round? Is 1d the max? Any clarification would be appreciated.
