In looking up formulas for determining max speed - I found one formula that more or less matches the final results in GURPS VEHICLES 2nd edition.
Max speed in meters per second:
(Mass in kg * Power in watts)^.61/Mass in kg
To convert to kph - multiply by 3.6
To convert to mph - multiply by 2.4
I then tried to compute what the output of the power plants were in Kilowatts, since the vehicles weight in pounds could be converted to mass in kg easily enough.
Since both the formula above and the formula in Car Wars Compendium 2nd edition gave max speed in miles per hour, I figured it should be reasonably easily accomplished where I could determine what the power plant's output was in in Kilowatts.
Sadly, this does not seem to be the case.
Has anyone else tried to do this, and if so, what were their results?
