Dungeon Fantasy Board Game?

dimanche 17 mai 2015

Greetings, buddies

This weekend a friend of mine told me about the amazing Board Game of That Other Game.

Immediately I remembered my precious and beloved paper miniatures and dungeon floors from the Cardboard Heroes series that I bought for a failed attempt to run a Dungeon Fantasy game with some friends.

Board games are amazing because basically anybody can play it without reading anything, provide at least one person knows what to do. The question is: How to fit GURPS rules in a sort of Dungeon Fantasy Board Game?

In a glance, I can think about two options:
  • GURPS Ultra-Lite
  • Pointless Slaying and Looting from Pyramid Magazine #3/72

The idea is to have every character (heroes and monsters) ready to rock in no time with the simplest rules, but without being to meh and allow character level-up. Choose your hero, kick monster's @$$ and take their stuff, all with 3d6.

Honestly, I really loved GURPS ULTRA-Lite for its simplicity. You can have character cards instead of character sheets. But I don't know... I feel like there's something missing there... So I think Pointless Slaying and Looting might be a viable choice. Perhaps even combining then altogether... and even adding the Dungeon Fantasy Video Game ideas (from the same issue) to increase the fun.

Anyone ever tried that? Or at least thought about that? Any idea or suggestion to share? I'd appreciate.
