GURPS has two modifications to reduce handgun bulk, the Fitz Special from High-Tech: Pulp Guns, Volume 1 specific to revolvers and the more general Shortening a Handgun from Tactical Shooting. Looking into unifying their mechanics I've come up with a few questions.
Fitzing involves removing material but unlike Shortening a Handgun doesn't reduce weight. Should the Shortening a Handgun reduction in weight be imported? For that matter, should Shortening a Handgun be switched to a percentage reduction in unloaded weight like Weight Reduction?
Where Shortening a Handgun improves Bulk by 1 and worsens Acc by 1, fitzing sets Bulk at -1 and Acc at 1. Are comparable modifications possible for reducing a semiautomatic's bulk from -3 to -1?
Shortening a Handgun reduces damage. Should this be imported to fitzing?
ST (and Rcl) are noted as possibly being worsened by Shortening a Handgun. Presumably this should also be true for fitzing. Has anyone put together guidelines on when they should increase ST?
Fitzing in addition to making a gun hammerless gives it +1 to Fast-Draw rolls. Should semiautomatics be able to get a similar bonus with modifications?
